gimping about
I’ve been teaching myself to use the free Gnu Image Manipulation Program, or GIMP for short. It works well enough, though I have had some issues with it crashing, especially when utilizing the more um, intensive of it’s functions, like light sources and bump mapping and things.
I am quite well hooked, especially when it became clear to me that most if the image manipulation stuff is a question of knowing how to do it in the program rather than being artistically gifted (which I am most assuredly not hehe). Once you can make the separate parts of whatever you had in mind, it becomes a question of putting them together with the program and that is more or less that. Ofc, I diss a million million artists in that sweeping statement, as there is the small thing of making it look good, where a true artist will outshine someone who just uses the program (if the artist has enough time hehe)
In the near future I’ll be posting stuff here, or linking to another site or maybe doing a tutorial or something, but to start it off I’ll link to something that got me started (though I can’t show too much of it atm):

it’s something for my favorite forum, where we will be doing some stuff in the future that requires pictures. Anyhoo, I had to make that small one with my work’s only gfx package, which is *spits* microsoft’s photo editor ;-)
